Iced Tea And Its Benefits
The world has been enjoying tea for the past five thousand years as one of the most popular beverage. It is not only a refreshing drink but is also rich in antioxidants to give it a better health value. There have been many variations in the original tea and one of them is iced tea. Originated in the eighteenth century in the United States, iced tea has been gaining popularity ever since. Lipton, a well-known tea brand, anticipated that and introduced Lipton Ice Tea in its original flavour as well as other varieties.
Many believe that iced tea was first introduced in the 1904 Richard Blechynden, representative of Indian tea growers. It was at a fair where the fairgoers were attracted to stalls by offering different beverages. A reasonably hot day in Mississippi made people repulsive towards the hot tea that was offered by Richard. In order to get people’s attention he had an idea to serve the tea chilled with crushed ice. The refreshing drink was an instant hit. It was a commercial breakthrough for iced tea but not the first day it was invented. The invention dates back to the eighteenth century as confirmed many cookbooks with recipes. This was also the era when refrigeration began in the form of ice houses to ice boxes to refrigerators as we know them today.
The original iced tea was initially served using green tea leaves, sweetened and was also used in punches which were heavily laden with alcholol. Tea drinking has long been associated with reducing the risk of many chronic health problems including lowering of blood pressure. This is why many tea companies commercialized iced tea to increase their profits. When Lipton, the famous tea manufacturer, launched the iced tea, the company was not aware of how much popularity the new product was going to have. Many individuals now have a preference to tea in this cold form rather than the more traditional hot tea. The commercialization of iced tea by Lipton has earned the company high revenue over the decades. The benefits to personal health are not outweighed in hot tea instead of iced, and iced tea has been found to be far more refreshing in warmer weather.
Initially introduced to the world as an experiment, iced tea has now anchored its place in the beverage industry worldwide. There are many variations of the original product. Lipton Iced Tea now comes in many flavours including peach, mango and lemon. The product comes in different sized plastic bottles and tin cans. All Lipton Iced Tea products have been very popular around the world.
