Pinching from Celebrities
What is going on?Celebrities are feeling the 'pinch' as their homes are being targetted by criminals looking to fill their pockets with celebrity wares. Amy Winehouse has had her London home in Camden broken into whilst she has been away on her Caribbean holidays in St Lucia. She has had digital recording equipment and her flat screen TV stolen but those she can cope without. Her real valued items were her guitars that cannot be replaced. Altogether, Amy has had over £15,000 worth of possessions stole.
Paris Hilton beats this hands down as around Christmas time last year she reportedly had approximately $2,000,000 worth of jewellery stolen from her home in Los Angeles whilst she was attending a party thrown by Katy Perry.
Of course we all know about the famous case of the theft at David and Victoria Beckhams home – Beckingham Palace – in Hertfordshire by their trusted housekeepers. Stolen items were seen being sold on ebay including designer clothes and football kits.
Last year Stephen Gately (of Boyzone fame) had around £80,000 worth of goods stolen from his home (also in Camden)! With his first BoyZone pay Cheque he treated himself to a custom-made rolex watch. This and a bracelet bought by his partner, Andy Coules were amongst items stolen from his proprty. Understandably, he was gutted.
Apparently, in the States, a gang leader, Troy Thomas, 45, is accused of instigating over 150 celebrity thefts and will face over 25 years imprisonment if convicted. Allegedly, his victims include Paris Hilton, Davis Factor (Max Factor heir), John Taylor (Duran Duran) and highly celebrated country singers Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. It is said that over $14 million of luxury items were stolen from celebrities homes by him and his gang.
Of course we can’t forget the list of celebrities who are famous for being thieves rather than victims of the crime, the most famous being Winona Ryder who was sentenced to three years probation and 480 hours of community service for her shopping theft spree where she claimed items worth over $5500.
So, it appears that if you have money and fame you can still fall afoul of the law.All that you need cannot always be afforded no matter your wealth. If it did, these celebrities would have far better security!!
Photoshop to Illustrator Vectors?
Hey guys, just wondering if this is a viable work around.
Basically a sign designer needs create a sign/etching using illustrator, however I am to supply the file. I don't have illustrator but am more than adept at using Photoshop, can I simply make the shapes on separate layers using the path tool and then he can pick up those paths separately in Illustrator using import etc. Would it also be best to save the file as a PSD or other?
Cheers chaps!
Yes you can use the path tool to create paths that illustrator can import as native vector shapes. Just select "export paths to illustrator" option when you are finished creating in photoshop.
Former Vogue Paris Editor, Carine Roitfeld, to Become a Grandma (thepoliticker.observer)
**Carine Roitfeld** had big news for us Friday. We chatted with the former
_Vogue Paris_ editor as she signed copies of her new book, _Irreverent,_ at
Marc Jacobs's cleverly but obviously named Bleecker Street bookshop,
Bookmarc. Much to our surprise (and delight), the beaming Ms. Roitfeld spoke
exclusively to _The Observer,_ revealing that next year she is to become a
grandmother. Her daughter, model and designer Julia Restoin Roitfeld—who has
been dating fellow model Robert Konjic—is three months pregnant. While
discussing her son Vladimir's recent appearance on the cover of _NYO,_ the
former editor of _Vogue Paris _broke composure, interrupting our polite
inquiries to exclaim, “_This_ is the big news of this week. I’m going to be a
grandmother. My daughter is having a little baby in May.” Ms. Roitfeld even
drew a halt to the signing of her book—which is a chronicle of her
collaborations with the likes of Mario Testino and family friend Tom Ford—to
bring us up to speed with all things natal. And is it a boy or a girl? To Ms.
Roitfeld, that was not important. “I am so proud of my family," she enthused.
"I have not asked. I do ...
