How To Make Wire Name Jewelry
Did you ever think of making your very own jewelry? Or did you ever think about how fun it might be to start your own jewelry making business? If so, there are some unique and easily made types of jewelry that might appeal to you. These kinds of jewelry can not only be unique and appealing but they can often be relatively inexpensive to create and sell very well. So why not try making wire name jewelry for both fun and profit?
Wire jewelry is both an interesting an appealing kind of handcrafted jewelry. There are many ways of working with wire to choose from, each method varying in complexity. It's a wonderful to start making your own jewelry because you can start with simple techniques and develop more complex ones as your skill enhances. Many wire jewelry making techniques adapt well for the novice who might not have much money to invest initially.
Wire wrapping is one of those techniques that has been extremely popular for several years now because it's simple to combine wire with all kinds of beads and you still have lots of room for creativity. It can teach you how to manipulate wire extremely well, doesn't cost a fortune and requires very few tools. With these limited wire skills, many women were able to create some lovely, quick jewelry using wire wrapping skills. So many folks have done this type of wirework for so many years that wire wrapping's viability for a jewelry business has diminished.
As with most things though, markets get flooded and trends pass and die out. Fashion and jewelry trends are particularly subject to these kinds of shifts. Why not then take those existing wire skills and apply them to something trendy, exciting and potentially lucrative? So, why not then try making wire name jewelry?
Even if you've never touched wire before, learning to make personalized name jewelry has a small learning curve and after only a short time practicing, you could be creating your own jewelry line. Really.
Making name jewelry pre-dates the Civil War and just keeps popping up in our history because of its popularity.
Personalized jewelry, be it wire name jewelry, name etched jewelry or charm name letters, are uniquely powerful and well, very personal gifts for special or commemorative occasions. I made a wire name necklace for my daughter's 16th birthday so I could put a special stamp on the day for her. I really wanted to make her something special that I had put some of my time into. The necklace I made for her was "written" in sterling wire and attached to a delicate sterling chain.
Personalized name jewelry is part of the new fashion and jewelry trend and potentially a very lucrative jewelry making endeavor right now. As the holidays approach, you could make wire name jewelry as gifts which would be economical. Wouldn't it be wonderful to give the women in your family their own wire name jewelry? Not hard on the pocketbook either. I have personally seen the crowds of people waiting at art fair booths selling wire name jewelry. Just recently I've seen the crowds at these kinds of booths. As I said, this is a popular trend.
Andy Turner, a wire name jewelry artist, has made a living from his personalized jewelry for years and he's recently made his very thorough, fool proof book called, Wire Writing Secrets available. Before reading the book, I didn't realize how detailed forming the letters was but Any covers every detail with complete photos of how to form the letters and names. Very thorough book. Very detailed photos and instructions make doing this craft very possible for any aspiring wire art jeweler.
Where can I buy some cheap charms for a charm bracelet?
I'm trying to make a charm bracelet but I keep finding wholesale sites. I want a good website or magazine with some CHEAP silver charms (either silver plated or shiny silver color).
Most charms on the sites I'm looking at are about $4 a piece for a small charm, but I want about 20 or so charms and plus the sterling chain the bracelet will cost a small fortune. I'm trying to make it as cheap (but not cheaply made) as possible.
Any suggestions???
I buy a lot of my charms from Etsy, if you search around you can find really great deals and a lot of the time people put their stuff up for sale when they're getting new things.
Other than that, there's a lot of really good charm/bead sites that arent wholesale out there (cause I know a lot require you to have a license too). Flip through some beading magazines and write down some of the websites for the ad's. Sometimes they include a promo for free shipping or 20% off your purchase.
I kinda find Michaels and Joann's to be pricey. I find better deals on Etsy on the exact same things.
